ELLENBECKER AND PODHRADSKY CLAIM CAPITOL CUP TITLE Duo Leads Team to Overall Team Championship
Pierre (SD) -- Teri Ellenbecker and Joan Podhradsky took top honors in the 2nd annual Capitol Cup golf tournament held at the Hillsview Golf Course on Friday, June 23rd. The Capitol Cup tournament required two-woman teams to play six holes of scramble format, six holes of best ball format and six holes of alternate shot format to claim the title.
Ellenbecker and Podhradsky combined for the lowest gross score in the three format tournament, carding a round of 68 to edge out Lindsey and Pat Brown for low score honors. Ellenbecker and Podhradsky’s round was the low round of the day in all flights. Jennifer Stalley and Krista Young finished third in the First Flight competition.
Nancy Berg and Sara Rabern combined for a round of 78 to set the pace for the Second Flight and claim honors in the division. Seanna Regynski and Amy McTighe claimed second place in the division by carding an 86 and edging out Deide Baldwin and Beth Giddings in a scorecard playoff.
The teams of Ellenbecker and Podhradsky and Baldwin and Giddings combined to win the overall team Championship and the Capitol Cup Title. The team championship was determined by a Ryder Cup scoring system that awarded points to each competing team.
Individual honors went to a number of golfers on individual holes.
