If you do not have a USGA handicap at the beginning of Match Play League, you will be assigned one until you have a USGA established handicap.FEE: Registration for the 2010 League is $50 per player. The fee includes a USGA handicap card and entry into all Ladies golf events in 2010. FORMAT: Team matches will be played throughout the summer. The low handicap player on one team will play the low handicap player on the other team and the high handicap player on one team will play the high handicap player on the other team. Points will be awarded for each weekly match. Teams will be bracketed for a final match play tournament based on season points. STARTING DATE: League play will begin May 27, 2010. RULES: Weekly matches will be scheduled for each team. It is preferred that Match Play League matches be played on Thursday evenings. However, matches may be played at any time mutually agreeable to the members of the teams during the assigned week. If an agreed upon time can not be arranged, the team that can play the match on the assigned Thursday evening will win the match by forfeit. It is your responsibility to schedule a tee time for your match each week. If one member of a team cannot play a match, her partner may choose a substitute player or play the opposing team herself. Any woman may play as a substitute so long as she meets League eligibility requirements and League Rules. Should a team member play alone, the team automatically forfeits the team points for one player and the low gross and team match points and will play for only 9 individual points. A substitute player should use her USGA handicap for the match. If the substitute player does not have a USGA handicap, a handicap will be assigned to the substitute by the League Chair. Match Play League matches may be played during the Tuesday Morning or Tuesday Evening Leagues. The Morning and Evening League Players will be given tee time preference over match play matches during regularly scheduled League times. The low handicap player on one team will play the low handicap player on the other team. The high handicap player on one team will play the high handicap player on the other team. Strokes will be awarded to players based on individual handicaps. Strokes awarded to a player will be awarded based on the course ratings for holes. Awarded stroked will be marked on the scorecard for the match. If both members of a team have the same handicap, the team will decide who plays low handicap and who plays high handicap for each match. All match scorecards must be turned in to the Ladies Match Play League Scorecard Box immediately following play. A member of each team must sign the scorecard prior to turning it in. Matches will be played with current USGA handicaps as of the date of play. No member of a League team may substitute for the member of another League team. Matches not completed by August 1, 2010 will be forfeited and no points will be awarded. Substitute players may not play in the place of a team member in the final Match Play League tournament. Additional rules for the final Match Play League Tournament will be posted prior to the start of the final tournament. U.S.G.A. Rules of Play and Hillsview Golf Course local rules govern all play. Failure to abide by any League rules will result in the loss of all League points. No refunds of registration fees will be made to any team that begins League play and then drops from the League for any reason. All rulings of the League Chair shall be final. SCORING: Each hole is worth one point for the low handicap golfer and one point for the high handicap golfer, for a total of 18 points. If players tie on a hole, each player will be awarded ½ point.
